Capstone project for my humanities requirement focused in music

In my humanities capstone practicum for the course "Music and Science," I created a project that leveraged the creative potential of Max for Live. This endeavor involved the real-time translation of live visuals into a captivating musical composition. Through a process of scanning and interpretation, hand-drawn memories contributed by students were transfigured into a dynamic auditory experience. More specifically, the vertical placement of these visual elements determined pitch, while color influenced volume. The inclusion of student voices and a dynamic video component further enriched the multimedia experience, resulting in a poignant portrayal of the collective sentimentality surrounding campus life. This project stands as a testament to the fusion of artistic expression and technology, showing an example of the intersection of creativity and innovation in the realm of music and science.

To the right is a link to the final video which shows the culmination of the piece. You'll see a timelapse video of how the project was made, the sonification of the art created by students on campus, and even students' memories spoken throughout the piece. In the bottom right corner there is a display of the painting along with a scrolling bar meant to represent where in the painting you are listening to.
